Southern Spring
01:22
|
|||
What do I have in store?
Twenty four hours or more,
The ride up to New York,
Parsing every billboard.
Lines of the highway
Make gigantic shapes
With a million details
And refusing names.
They keep me linear
And they keep me safe.
Take me back to Spring time
In the Southern States.

Mechanism of Erasure
05:30
|
|||
Mechanical eraser
Between your finger and your thumb
Taking care.
There are myriad ways to become undone.
All pipes within our bodies
Lead directly to the heart.
The concealed hand of a strange man
Reminds me with a start that I get scared.
The heat of all our bodies will depart.
A mechanism of erasure
Brings the paling of the sun,
Supreme and perfect silence,
A fog come rolling on,
A scent of nonexistence,
Needless and numb,
Freedom from equation,
And the arithmetic realm.
So prepared
Use it for to call your sister out.
There is a hand upon your shoulder!
There is wet heat upon your shoulder!
Two hands fold into one another!
Two souls fold into one another!

Movement is Calm
02:59
|
|||
Streams of light,
Carry me
Through the night
Where you lead.
I’m out of touch with everything.
Moving through the ring.
Lost in another song,
Movement is calm.
In a body prone to force,
I am breathing breath and breath is air and air is Earth.
Yet it never will add up
Moving through the ring.
Lost in another song,
Movement is calm.

No Words
05:31
|
|||
No words
Come to me now.
I kneel down,
Place me ear onto the ground,
Listen for the river underground.
Footsteps pound
And I can tell who’s in the house.
When there’s no one else around
My head all fills with sound.
The whole town fills with sound.
|
||||
5. |
||||
They all turn away when I talk.
I can’t find the matches in the dark.
Here is a room,
Here’s a situation.
Here’s a pause,
Here’s deliberation.
Here’s an excuse,
Here’s a complication.
Here is the truth,
And here’s a proclamation.
I heard something in my head,
It was the underground river of Glass.
I heard something in my head
And I knew the past was past.

Remember Me
04:38
|
|||
Remember me?
I was the one riding down your street,
Climbing up on your porch stair
Trying to catch you unaware.
Remember me?
I was the one laying in the leaves,
I bought wine and this guitar
And I want to bring them where you are.
It’s true I’m talking to you,
Can you hear it?
I want to talk it through.
Self admitted, unrequited.
This song goes out to you.
Will you hear it? Will you get near it?
Do you believe in the Spiritus?
Come on believe it.
Come on perceive it.
Remember me?
We were looking for a change of scene
Headed Westward toward the sea.
We were kissing in the hollow tree.
Remember me?
On the week before Christmas Eve,
I was driving your whole family,
We were all staring at our feet,
And the world was looking pretty bleak.
I remember you could hardly speak.

Easier
03:06
|
|||
Burning my thumb makes it easier to become what you want.
Rolling your eyes makes it easier to become what’s inside your mind.
One would think I’d keep in the bank at arm’s reach.
One would dream that freedom comes for free,
Sometimes different people agree,
Sometimes different people disagree.
Writing a song makes it easier to get your dress undone.
Touching our tongues makes it easier to feel alright about nothing getting done.
One would glean that lethargy and greed cannot lead.
Though I may pose that, while nobody know
How to explain this comfortable thing,
I can think of times you can try before you buy.

Stranger
03:28
|
|||
I work myself into a bad feeling
Staring at the ceiling.
I’m staring at the window like a dog,
Deaf and drunk and small,
Who doesn’t even care who’s there.
Could be anyone at all.
I can hear those whispering women around the corner of the house
Saying, “Look at that poor boy,
So quiet and devoid,
What a shame that dying makes him scared to be alive.”
Clearly it’s on me to stop these howling sounds.
Melting in the middle of my head,
Make me sick with dread.
Now I’m beating the sun to bed see what tomorrow says.
Ready with a pistol at my side, I wait for someone to arrive.
Say, “This morning I went out in town,
I did a little walking around,
I saw everybody’s eyes on the ground”
Oh my,
I’m a stranger now.

Part of the Earth
06:19
|
|||
Part of the Earth, part of the Earth
One half is death,
One half reunion.
Lay in the ocean,
Return my body
In to that old sea
Of everybody.
